F355 Berlinetta
|
Since
the late 1970s, the Ferrari model range has included a mid-engine V8 coupe,
and these days that's the
F355. The model replaced the 348 in 1994,
and contains Ferrari's first road-going engine with five valves per
cylinder. The berlinetta provides the
basis for the Ferrari Challenge, a single-make gentleman's racing series,
though either model can be ordered with
racing seats to replace the standard Connolly leather ones.
The Ferrari F355 is available in three models: Berlinetta (coupe), GTS (Targa), and Spider (convertible). All models come with a potent 3.5-liter 40-valve V8 engine producing 380 horsepower. Eighteen-inch 5-spoke magnesium wheels and powerful 4-wheel ventilated brakes are mounted to the F355's 4-wheel independent suspension, while the highly aerodynamic Pininfarina-designed exterior is a sleek combination of steel and aluminum. Standard features on all models include an anti-lock brake system (ABS), driver-adjustable suspension, Connolly leather interior and dual airbags.
The F 355's impressive specific power and torque also reflect the use of five valves per cylinder. This 213.3 cu.in. aspirated V8 engine delivers 380 HP. This performance reflects a meticulous aerodynamic design that covers the underbody. Designed by Pininfarina.
Bodywork
Two-seater berlinetta in aluminium and
steel. The exterior styling has been guided by strict aerodynamic
requirements including the underside to
obtain the perfect balance of vertical forces (Cz).

pleasure and safety. Seats and trim in Connolly hides. Composite shell
racing seats may be fitted upon request.

Stress-bearing chassis with a tubular
auxiliary spaceframe holding the engine and rear suspension. The suspension
adopts unequal-length, non-parallel wishbones front and rear with springs
and anti-roll bars; telescopic gas shock absorbers with electronic damping
control, two selectable damping programs. Rack-and-pinion power assisted
steering, manual steering available upon request. Self-ventilated disc
brakes with cooling ducts, excludable ATE Abs system. 18" magnesium wheels
